Defra is the data controller for personal data provided for the recording and reporting of livestock movements. Defra and SouthWestern may process the same data. Defra and it’s enforcement agencies may use the information for related purposes, including: enforcing disease control legislation, producing statistical reports and movement analyses, for research purposes, and to inform the development of other Defra projects. Defra does not allow any breaches of confidentiality with the data collected. It only provides data to organisations that sign confidentiality agreements, and which agree that no information will be published that could result in individuals being identified from the shared data. Defra may also be required to provide information under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 or the Freedom of Information Act 2000. However, Defra does not permit breaches of confidentiality that would be in violation of the Data Protection Act 1998.
